The 27th Annual Red Ribbon Bed Race

Fleming to Front in Key West, Florida

This slumber-mobile contest is the oldest event of the Conch Republic Independence Celebration in Key West and is arguably the oldest bed race in the state of Florida.

Beds with canopies, some with hammocks, many built for speed, with a few shaped like animals, will blaze a trail down Duval Street. Local bars, restaurants, hotels, businesses and organizations race for their chance to be the most outrageous, most colorful and oh yeah - the fastest!

All procees from this wacky event will benefit AIDS Help, Inc. of Key West, Florida - A non-profit community based organization. In addition to providing counseling, healthcare and housing, AIDS Help, Inc. also conducts health education outreach programs throughout the Florida Keys.
